In the last weekend, 20.5.2018, in Copenhagen. The second world competition for massage took place by the organization of the international massage association. One hundred twenty-nine therapists from around the world united in 1 place to witness who is the best!. The categories were; Swedish, wellness, Thai, western\eastern freestyle, and chair.
The most common two questions that come up are “Where do I sign up to receive the messages” and the answer is simple, be a competitor or a judge, sorry :). The second, and a bit more concrete is “How do you know who is better, don’t you have to feel it?” this question is half right, this is a subjective subject, some prefer the massage soft and calm the others prefer deep and energetic. However, the underlying fundamentals remain the same, and they are the criteria for evaluation, customer satisfaction is only a small piece of the cake. Technique, ergonomics, innovative, Bed organization are things you can see from the side, even more, when you have more than ten masseurs working simultaneously. In the Swedish massage, you can never lose contact with the client, sadly to say, it happens a lot!. Thai stretching has to be accurate while maintaining a proper ergonomic (straight back, using weight ant, not power) 2 m”m can separate a stretched muscle and a client that asks himself “What the heaven is he trying to do?!”. On the massage chair is my favorite; here is where one’s creativity is in the line. Most therapists working on a bed\floor, while the client is sitting on a massage chair is a different working system. The client is not as mobile as lying, so you always have to think outside of the chair and NOT to massage the client back\shoulders for 60 minutes. Take the hands outside, move the legs, learn anatomy and the joints movements, and experience! this called “Innovative.”
And this is how I got two years in a row my Bronze medal in chair massage! Just thinking outside of the box and mixing all of my knowledge from the entire range of expertise, classic, sports, Thai, and watching youtube.
Watch, learn, do!.
You could definitely see your skills within the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to mention how they believe. At all times go after your heart. “The most profound joy has more of gravity than of gaiety in it.” by Michel de Montaigne.
